A letter from the Editor

Dear Friends:
Well, we’re back in the saddle again. September sends us all back to school – one way or the other. Please accept my apologies for the lateness of this newsletter. While I was in New York, my computer “fried.” My husband could actually smell smoke! Afraid to tell me, he shipped what was left of it back to our New York computer genius, together with the back up tape. Seven weeks later and I’m without my brains. We’ve put together a new “puker” as my grandson calls it – an appropriate name all things considered. It seems I’m learning all over again how to ride this horse

For those of you thinking mechanical this month, I have a something you may want to hear about. If you're trying to keep ahead of the herd when it comes to digital imaging technology, the DSC-F707 Cyber-shot® digital camera is the camera for you. It showcases superb functionality and the most advanced technology offerings available from Sony. The DSC-F707 combines a 5.0 Effective (5.2 Gross) CCD, a superior-quality Carl Zeiss™ Vario-Sonnar lens, Hologram AF laser focus assist for improved focus and exposure metering, Multi-pattern metering and TTL pre-flash exposure control. Check out www.sonystyle.com.

Photographer, Kerry Dressler, has recommended the DSC-F707 digital camera to the Selby Gardens here in Florida, which is how I came to know about it. Kerry began Bio-Photo Services over 20 years ago with husband, Bob, who worked as a Biologist for the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) in Panama. See what they’re doing today on their website. View extraordinary nature photos at www.bio-photo.com.

You’ll especially want to see “Alice, the Amorphophallus” This six foot one and one-half inch Corpse Plant Amorphophallus titanum (Titan Arum) specimen was harvested for scientific study in 1999. You may want to take the virtual tour http://www.onuma.com/VR/flower/ and watch this spectacular flower bloom. I’ve added these sites and more to our Webgarden, so I hope you’ll just trot on over and have a virtual field day.

Hi ho and away.
God bless
OM

Soul Biz

When we look into our own hearts and begin to discover what is confused and what is brilliant, what is bitter and what is sweet, it isn't just ourselves that we're discovering.
We're discovering the universe.
- Pema Chodron

Imagination was given to us to compensate for what we are not; a sense of humor was given to us to console us for what we are.
- Mark McGinnis

Courage is being scared to death—
and saddling up anyway.
