A letter
from the Editor
Dear Friends:
From my studio window I can see the Dogwood and the Apple Blossoms blooming.
It is my spring thrill to witness natures dance. I am hoping that
all of you are taking advantage of the spring flowers in your garden,
your friends gardens, or the botanical gardens near you. Sketch
away and be sure to take pictures, if possible with your 38-mm Macro Lens
cameras. All these sketches and photos will keep you busy through the
rest of the year.
Once again the Morgan
Library consented to a visit by Om Art Workshops with ten of us who took
part in a beautiful "up close" review of original botanical
paintings from Eighteenth-century England and Eighteenth and Nineteenth-century
France. We had a glorious hour to peer at works, many on vellum, belonging
to George Dionys Ehret, Madeleine Basseporte, Pierre-Joseph Redouté,
Pancrace Bessa, Mark Catsby, James Bolton, R. Alves Rebello. We wish to
express our gratitude to The Morgan Library and to Kate Stuart for her
continued efforts, interest, and kindness.
