A letter from the Editor

Dear Friends:
Many, many years ago, I read a book entitled, “The Wind, Sand, and Stars,” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The main character was a wartime mail pilot who after loosing his plane takes a train back home. He must sit in third class due to the extreme wartime conditions. There huddled with the masses, he sits across from an intelligent, three-year-old peasant boy with beautiful blue eyes and blond hair. Absorbed by the futility of war and waste, the pilot remarks to himself, “There was I, staring into the face of Mozart murdered.”

So much of what we do and think is wasted energy. The beauty of our moments lost forever for reasons beyond our limits. Perhaps the question is not why the house is burning, but how to get out of it. If our innermost creative self creates with every thought then our deeds are the reaction of our previous thinking. Inevitably, we arrive back at the beginning so that if we want to achieve anything, it is our thoughts at the start that set the path. Truly then we have a task of setting our heart straight, straight up the path of love, fearless, brave, recognizing all as bumper rails to a place with the gods.

Our summer is here and in the lazy, hazy days ahead, I wish for you all a time of restful, joyful reflection, and great artistic productivity. God bless. OM
