"Botanical Artists draw what they see so others can see clearly."

O.M. Braida
Omisim #1

Dear Friends:

In our search for the "Spring Cleanse" many ideas cross our path. Out with the old and in with the new fresh self. Spring, the official new year of the year where we come out of hybernation and venture out of our protective coverings....in any case that's what we hope for. In my own self the tingling spirit nudges my inner reality, pokes at my philosophy, and reminds me once again of the depth of my search.

It is not by chance that I once again stumble on the writings of the famous Brazilian author, Paulo Coelho, and remember his enchanting novel "The Alchemist" -- a story about following our dreams and listening to our hearts. Our lives are so often influenced by tradition that the strength of the norm often pulls us away from our destiny. Our biggest challenge is to discover our true selves and when the pull presents itself so does the questioning and the need to search. This internal struggle is present in all of us and in "Love Letters from a Prophet," Coelho reveals how the internal world of Cahill Gibran served as inspiration.

So now duly inspired by personal philosophical influence, I am standing at the edge of the diving board. In Coelho's "The Manual of the Warrior of Light" we are tempted to square our shoulders for "a warrior of the light does not spend his days trying to play the role that others have chosen for him. A warrior of the light does not waste his time listening to provocations; he has a destiny to fulfill." The distance to the water looks mighty steep and the contemplation delays the act as I watch my grandchildren take their leap of faith and I am once again transformed for ever as I learn that "the extraordinary is always found in the way of the common people."

Butterflies with only ten days to live pursue their destiny with color and vitality. To all of you high board divers ....couragio.... breath.... jump! And may I see you taking risks at the next Academy workshop. God bless. OM
