Dear Friends:
So many good wishes to all of you and prayers for your good intentions in 2009. In preparing my own list of good intentions it occurred to me that my list needed to be based on a foundation that would support the plan. Sort of like preparing the right size canvas, or cutting the right size piece of paper to house the size of the composition we have in mind for our drawing or painting.
The framework for our lives and for any good piece of artwork lays in the preparation of a good foundation. The Boy Scouts have the right idea. And as I reflect on this I begin my preparations. My thoughts roll around and begin to take shape. And as Buddha says, The thought manifests as the word; The word manifests as the deed; The deed develops into habit
Working backwards in thought, I ask what road do I seek and who and what will I be at the end of the journey? It seems life is made up of many roads every choice an opportunity to merge or diverge with the great divine. Opportunity then, I would think, is the miracle gift of the new year. What a great sense of hope it offers to each and every one of us!
And so with my jumbo plastic calendar I plot my course.time for you, time for me, time for the spouse in the house, time for art, time for exercise, time for kindness, time for love, and most of all time for Godfor in that speck of time His will makes time stand still and opens up a world of grace that feeds our soul and marks our place.
May our calendars have such places for time where the exercise of our thought expands our life, our heart, our soul. God bless. OM

Soul Biz
The soul is dyed by the thoughts.
Dye it then, with a continuous series of such thoughts as these that where a man can live, there if he will
he can also live well.
Marcus Aurelius
A man would do well to carry a pencil in his pocket, and write down the thoughts of the moment. Those that come unsought are commonly the most valuable, and should be secured, because they seldom return.
Sir Francis Bacon
The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its ways with care, And let it spring from love;
Born out of concern for all beings.
Buddha
Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think.
Benjamin Disraeli
Have the courage to take your own thoughts seriously, for they will shape you.
Albert Einstein
The soul of God is poured into the world through the thoughts of men.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.
Mahatma Gandhi
Too often we... enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
John F. Kennedy
The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.
John Milton
Even a thought, even a possibility, can shatter us and transform us.
Friedrich Nietzsche
A thought is an idea in transit.
Pythagoras
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Painters, voice your thoughts judiciously and at your own peril, lest you kill that which you wanted to see grow. If you must share your thoughts, try an in-studio diary.
Alexander Petti
My life has been woven in this one thought that there is no East and no West, the whole creation is the House of our Father.
